Sopio Murusidze is a jazz and contemporary vocalist, songwriter and educator from the charming city of Tbilisi Georgia.
Sopio earned her bachelor’s degree at The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. She studied with prominent faculty members Richard Harper, Kate Baker, Marlon Saunders, Charlotte Small, Elisabeth Lohninger, and Rachel Z. During her time at the New School Sopio sang in diverse ensembles led by legendary jazz musicians such as Reggie Workman and Buster Williams.
Sopio has performed with her jazz quartet and duo projects at various music venues and festivals around New York City such as Make Music New York, Citi Summer Series, Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, Society Café, etc.
In the fall of 2019, Sopio joined the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus, performing a vast variety of music, from works of classical greats to those of prominent living composers.
In November 2019, Sopio was cast in the musical “12th Night” staged by Clocktower Players at Irvington Theatre. She performed in four shows including the regional premiere.
Currently, Sopio is an assistant professor at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. She teaches jazz vocals to students pursuing their degrees. Sopio holds vocal performance workshops and classes around European higher education musical institutions.
In 2023 Sopio was selected to become a member of the AEC's - (European Association of Conservatoires) Pop and Jazz Platform Working Group.

Alongside her academic pursuits, Sopio maintains an active performance career, collaborating with esteemed musicians and performing both in Georgia and internationally.
